Electrostatic Energy Analyzer/Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer
Combination Instruments

Unique combinations of Comstock's TOF and ESA technology provide the researcher with advanced analytical tools:

(1) The Model PA-300 Photoionization Spectrometer (not shown) employs a spherical sector double-focusing electrostatic energy analyzer with an opposing linear or reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometer. It is ideally suited for simultaneous electron energy/ion mass measurements of photoionization products generated by lasers, resonance or discharge lamps, or synchrotron light sources. Available Comstock sources (listed below) may be used to introduce species into the spectrometer.

Applications:

The PA-200 Photoioinization Spectrometer can be used in combination with the following available options:

(2) The Model ESA/TOF-200 Mass Spectrometer, pictured above, uses an electrostatic energy analyzer to preselect the energy of ions before mass analysis by time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The ESA energy selected ion beam may be introduced on-axis (shown above) or orthogonal to the time-of-flight mass spectrometer axis.
